Spring Fling

SpringflingI love getting dressed in the Spring.  I love wearing things that are light and fresh.  There’s something about the weather getting warmer that makes me want to break out of chunky sweaters and wear flirty dresses and form fitting clothes.  I know this is cliché but I totally buy into traditional spring trends like pastels and blooms.  What can I say, I’m a girly girl at heart.  A lot of the things I want for Spring are totally out of my price range but a girl can dream right?

Cold Weather Style

mamaishaute {Grace Sun from Mama is Haute}

I get pretty lazy about the way I dress during the winter.  I pretty much stick to black leggings, a sweater and my standard black coat.  I should really step up my game because living in New York City, it’s hard not to notice the amazing street style you see everywhere.  The women in New York City put my outfits to shame.  I get most of my fashion inspirations just by strolling the streets of Soho or the East Village.  I love outfits that are a mix of high and low end brands.  I truly believe styling outfits is an art form and I’m still learning.  The following photos are some of my favorite cold weather styles.  These ladies know how to dress for the winter without looking frumpy.  I love how all of the ladies dressed comfortably but still managed to look polished and effortless.  You won’t see any Uggs here!

Bauble Bar

Jewelry and champagne?  I’m in!  My favorite online jewelry retailer, the Bauble Bar has their first brick and mortar store in the Garment District.  If you didn’t know already, Bauble Bar sells on-trend jewelry at affordable price points.  My sister and I went to the Bauble Bar recently to buy some jewels for holiday gifts but we both walked out with gifts for ourselves.  Doesn’t that always happen?  When we walked into the store, Ashley offered us a glass of champagne while we shopped.  I loved the set up because you can touch and try on all the jewels which online shopping doesn’t allow you to do.  It was so hard not to buy everything since all the jewelry was affordable.  The best part of the whole experience was when you buy jewelry less than $50, you get to turn the gum ball machine and get a free piece of jewelry.  I got a really cool bracelet.  I was like a giddy school girl.  I had such a blast at the Bauble Bar and I’m definitely planning to go back for those holiday gifts.

Glitter Boots

  1. Wanted $54.95
  2. Vince Camuto $149
  3. Steve Madden $149.95
  4. Matt Bernson $218
  5. Anthropologie $90
I’ve been on the prowl for a great Fall/Winter boot.  I’ve been seeing these glitter booties around and I’m in love with them because I think they’re versatile for every outfit.  They are casual in the front and there’s a party in the back.  They’re especially great for traveling when you don’t want to pack more than one boot for day and night.  The problem now is to pick my favorite one.

One Dress Three Dates

I am notorious for wearing the same things all week and interchanging them.  When a couple of my girlfriends asked me what they should wear on a date, I was perplexed because I never really thought about it.  I just wear what’s comfortable.  which brings me to the realization that maybe I should make more of an effort for my boyfriend.  I bought this one white dress from American Eagle and I found myself wearing it to a couple of dates.  It’s cute but flirty and super comfortable.  What’s great about a white dress like this is that it’s versatile.  You can wear it to many different functions and places.  Even if you don’t have a date, it’s fun to just wear a flirty summer dress for yourself.

1. Brunch date – Denim shirt, fedora hat, friendship bracelets and sandals for a casual meal outside.

2. Lunch then museum date – A cardigan, belt, and wedge sandals.

3. Drinks, late night dinner, then dancing date – Faux leather jacket and sky high heels for a sexy date night look. Oh and the straps come off this dress!

What’s In My Bag

I love the column in US Weekly where you get to see what’s in a celebrity’s bag.  I often get asked, what’s in your bag? It’s so heavy!  It’s because I carry my life in there.  I’ve been carrying the same Cole Haan bag for the past 6 years and its age is definitely showing!  I’m looking for a new bag that can be worn both on the shoulder and as a cross body.  A bag with lots of compartments and is big enough to hold my camera.  Let me know if you have any suggestions!  In the meantime, here’s what’s in my bag at the moment.

1. Faux snake skin wallet from Zara

2. Moleskine notebook and black pen for writing down project ideas

3. Trident gum-I’m an obsessive gum chewer

4. When I don’t want to carry my huge camera around, I use the iphone camera which is really really good

5. Smart water

6. Marc Jacobs aviators

7. Think Thin bar in chunky peanut butter-You don’t wanna see me hungry!

8. iphone charger because my phone always dies

9. I’m reading the Alchemist for the 2nd time, it’s such a beautiful book.  Like my bacon bookmark?

10. Wet ones to wipe my hands after the subway

11. Victoria’s Secret lip gloss in Slice of Heaven

12. Body butter from Bliss

13. ipod for listening to music while I walk

What I Wore in Vieques

After I posted about my trip to Vieques, I received a lot of emails asking me where I got the clothes that I was wearing.  In preparation for this trip, I went to my usual stores: H&M, Forever 21, JCrew, and Zara but I also went to American Eagle (I haven’t shopped here since high school) and the Gap.  I was pleasantly surprised at the assortment at both stores.  I loved the colored jeans at the Gap which were the fraction of the price of designer jeans.  I also loved the boho/Coachella vibe of the clothes at American Eagle.  Here’s the rundown of what I wore…you can still buy them online or at the stores.

From picture above:

1. Top: H&M $14.95

2. Pants: American Eagle $44.50

3. Flip Flops: Havaianas $30

1. Tank & Shorts PJ set: Forever 21 $9.80

 1. Dress: American Eagle on sale for $29.99

1. Bikini: Victoria’s Secret $44

2. Fedora: Forever 21 $9.80

1. Caftan: Victoria’s Secret $59.50

2. Bikini: Victoria’s Secret $39

Seeing Spots

I know I’m a little late on the polka dot dress band wagon, but I’m STILL obsessed with these Stella McCartney dresses.  The sheer polka dot panels make it such a sexy dress.  At $2,155, it’s just a little too expensive for my budget.  This is a literal replica of the dress from Asos at just over $63, it won’t break the bank.

After seeing this dress, I had polka dot fever and scoured the net for more polka dot dresses.  Here is what I found…

1. Topshop, $60

2. Modcloth, $84.99

3. Miss Selfridge, $68

4. Dorothy Perkins, $27

5. Modcloth, $44.99
