Can You Buy Mincemeat Pie Filling?
Yes, absolutely! In fact, did you know that mincemeat was one of the earliest packaged convenience foods sold in the United States? The reason is that preparing mincemeat involves a great deal of work, not to mention having access to seasonal fruits.
Lots of things have changed over the years and while more at home chefs are happy to try their hand at making their own mincemeat pie filling, for most of us, buying pre-packaged mincemeat is still an easier option.
To help you in your search, we’ve rounded up a useful list of mincemeat makers with links to their website, some recipes to try and much more.
1. Blake Hill Preserves Mincemeat
Blake Hill Preserves was founded in 2009 in Grafton, Vermont. For many years, the company’s founders, Vicky Allard and Joe Hanglin, handmade their specialty English preserves in a barn converted to a kitchen.
That same year, their Wild Blackberry and Apple Jam became an instant sensation at a local store and soon after, their labor of love turned into 18-hour days.
In 2012, they constructed a facility dedicated to producing their jams and jellies on a mass production scale and in 2016, opened their own specialty preserve shop where jam lovers can sample their products.
Blake Hill’s Mincemeat is a seasonal offering from the company and is available in 12 ounce jars.
Blake Hill Preserves Mincemeat ingredients include apples, apricots, raisins, figs, dates, oranges, brown sugar, cointreau, spices, citric acid and pectin. Blake Hill’s Mincemeat does not contain any meat.
